Professor Maksim Khomiakov (ORCID: 0000-0002-1996-9896) is a historical and cultural sociologist with a strong background in philosophy and intellectual history. His main research interests are in historical-comparative sociology, sociology of modernity, social and political theory, philosophy and sociology of education, and Western and Russian intellectual history. He has recentrly worked as a Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan), while had previously taken various positions in such Russian universities as Higher School of Economics (Saint-Petersburg) and Ural Federal University (Ekaterinburg). He held visiting positions at Free University, Berlin, The University of Johannesburg (South Africa), Fudan University (China), The University of Yor (UK), Texas A&M University (USA) as well as was a Marie Curie senior fellow at European University Institute, Florence (Italy).
Prof. Khomiakov’s current research project is focused upon imaginary of mastery over nature in history of Russian modernity in the context of global political and ecological transformations.

Professor at Takushoku University in Tokyo, specializing in financial systems and sustainable finance. With a background in the theory of money and banking history, he researched banking business at the Free University Berlin and comparative financial systems and supervision at the Financial Services Agency of the Japanese Government. He has been considering how to adapt the financial system for humane living in the aging society (financial gerontology) and now also against the climate change in the Anthropocene era. His interdisciplinary approach integrates insights from critical economics, social systems theory, behavioral economics, business studies, pedagogy, and law. He has been a member of the governing board for the Tokyo branch of the Japan Scientists' Association and currently serves as a board member of the Innovation Fusion Society of Japan. Beyond research, he has practical experience supervising a local nursing home, the university library, a students' flat and collective housings, and reforestation projects in San Paulo.

Become a Research Fellow at ESRAH
The ESRAH Fellowship Program enables international researchers to join ESRAH. Research fellows are involved in all ESRAH activities, can draw on ESRAH as an interdisciplinary network and as a platform for communicating research results to the public. The primary goal of the ESRAH Fellowship Program is to foster collaborations with concrete objectives, such as joint grant applications, publications, and events.
A workplace will be provided by ESRAH.

- Duration: Temporary (2 weeks to 12 months)
- Status: Predoc or Postdoc (Junior Fellows) / (Junior) Professor (Senior Fellows)
Requirements & Application Process
At least one ESRAH member supports the application as a tandem partner with an approximately half-page letter of support, outlining the cooperation and specific connection to ESRAH. If the tandem partner is not an ESRAH member, additional support from such a member is required. The board of directors decides on the acceptance of fellows based on content suitability and space availability. Applications are accepted at any time.
Applicants identify potential tandem partners among ESRAH members and contact them directly.
