Young minds solving climate change
With the Young Climate Scientists Award the Earth and Society Research Hub (ESRAH) recognizes outstanding Bachelor and Master theses. Graduates of the University of Hamburg who wrote a thesis on a climate-related topic in natural sciences, social sciences or economics are eligible.
The winner of the Young Climate Scientists Award receives a 5,000 euro cash prize. Runner-up prizes are 3,000 euro and 2,000 euro for second and third place. Prizes are donated by the Gesellschaft Harmonie von 1789 e.V. The award will be presented every two years.
The award's patron is Katharina Fegebank, Second Mayor of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and Senator for Environment, Climate, Energy and Agriculture.

Archive: Partnerstädtepreis
In the past years, ESRAH's predecessor CEN and the Gesellschaft Harmonie von 1789 e.V. have already worked together through the Partnerstädtepreis. The prize was awarded for outstanding BA-, MA- and PhD-theses written at the Universität of Hamburg dealing with the topics of water, sea and climate.
